藝術不僅是美的呈現，更是思想與精神的傳遞。2010年，藝術家朱振南以「實踐、無我、創新、至善」為創作主題，將教育理念與東方哲學融入書法藝術，透過筆墨線條與色彩的交織，詮釋知行合一、謙遜奉獻、突破自我與追求卓越的生命精神。

實踐大學自1958年創校以來，秉持創辦人謝東閔先生「力行實踐，修齊治平」的教育精神，強調學以致用、知行合一，並以「創新、實踐、至善」為辦學理念，致力培養兼具專業能力、人文素養與社會關懷的人才。朱振南以此為創作背景，進一步融入「無我」的東方哲學思維，使四組文字不僅呼應大學教育的核心價值，也成為對人生修養與處世態度的深層思考。

「實踐」是知與行的結合。 真正的學問不僅止於知識的累積，更在於將思想付諸行動，於生活中體現所學，從經驗中不斷淬鍊智慧。

「無我」是超越自我的胸懷。 源自東方哲學對自我與萬物關係的思索，並非否定個體的存在，而是放下對自我的執著，以謙遜、包容與利他的精神，成就更寬廣的人生格局。

「創新」是突破既有框架的勇氣。 在傳承之中尋求變化，在既有基礎上開拓新的可能。正如朱振南長年致力於書法與繪畫的跨界探索，讓傳統筆墨不斷與當代藝術語言展開對話。

「至善」則是永無止境的自我追求。 不以既有成就為終點，而是在學習、創作與生命歷程中持續精進，追求品格、智慧與精神境界的提升。

在藝術表現上，朱振南突破傳統書法單一的黑白形式，以四組獨立而相互呼應的構圖，結合墨色與鮮明色彩，呈現書法線條的力量與節奏。黑白之間的虛實對比，以及藍、黃、紅等色彩的運用，使文字不再僅是意義的載體，更成為具有視覺張力的當代藝術表現。筆勢的收放、線條的轉折與空間的留白，展現藝術家對「書畫同源」理念的實踐，也賦予傳統書藝更自由的觀看方式。

作品懸掛於實踐大學國際會議廳前方，讓藝術融入校園的公共空間。四組文字既是教育精神的凝練，也是對每一位學習者的期許：以實踐累積智慧，以無我涵養胸懷，以創新開拓視野，以至善作為終身追求。

朱振南透過書法，使抽象的精神理念轉化為可被觀看、感受與思考的藝術語言，讓筆墨不僅承載文化傳統，也成為連結教育、藝術與人生哲學的橋梁。

Created in 2010 for Shih Chien University, Practice · Selflessness · Innovation · The Highest Good brings together four concepts that speak to education, creativity, and the cultivation of the self. The work is permanently displayed outside the university’s International Conference Hall, where it forms an enduring dialogue with the academic environment and the generations of students who pass through the space.

Rather than treating calligraphy simply as written language, Chu Chen-Nan transforms each phrase into an individual visual expression. “Practice” speaks to the act of turning knowledge and ideals into lived experience; “Selflessness”suggests an openness that reaches beyond the individual self; “Innovation” reflects the courage to depart from convention and create new possibilities; and “The Highest Good” points toward the continuous pursuit of integrity, refinement, and a greater human ideal.

The four works are distinguished by contrasting compositions and colors. Black ink moves freely across natural paper, while deep blue, luminous yellow, and vivid red create distinctly different emotional fields. Through changes in brush pressure, rhythm, density, and spatial balance, written characters become more than linguistic signs—they emerge as images charged with movement, temperament, and energy.

The work also resonates with the educational spirit of Shih Chien University, whose very name, Shih Chien (實踐), signifies the translation of ideas into action. Here, “practice” is not understood as repetition, but as a continuous process of learning, reflection, creation, and renewal. Chu extends this idea through calligraphy, allowing tradition to encounter the present and transforming the discipline of writing into a contemporary artistic language.

Displayed within the university, Practice · Selflessness · Innovation · The Highest Good therefore functions not only as an artwork, but also as a quiet proposition: knowledge finds meaning through practice, creativity grows from an open mind, and the pursuit of excellence is a lifelong process.

Through the vitality of ink and color, Chu Chen-Nan gives visible form to these four ideas, creating a work that connects calligraphy, education, and the enduring pursuit of human possibility.

朱振南 CHU CHEN NAN

朱振南為臺灣知名當代書畫藝術家，創作歷程橫跨六十年，以融合古典筆法與當代表現聞名，致力於將書法從平面視覺轉化為具空間感與生命力的藝術實踐。1996年公費赴法國留學。在臺灣、美國、法國、日本、中國、新加坡等地舉辦個展。於2023年更捐贈兩件作品予法國政府，於法國外交部展出，持續以書畫作為文化外交的橋梁。 最廣為人知的作品為《機場之歌-在旅行的路上》，其為桃園國際機場 T1 創作之巨型書法光廊，結合方文山詩詞，自設置以來成為臺灣最具代表性的書法公共藝術。在臺灣有許多單位典藏、展覽及公共空間的大型創作，如司法院、法務部、高雄市立美術館、桃園市立美術館、臺北市政府大廳、臺灣桃園國際機場、臺北藝術大學音樂學院、台北車站、臺灣東部鐵路站名題字等。

Chu Chen-Nan is a leading Taiwanese calligraphy and ink artist whose career spans more than six decades. Blending classical brushwork with contemporary expression, he expands calligraphy beyond the page into spatial and public art. After studying in France on a government scholarship in 1996, he held solo exhibitions across Asia, Europe, and the United States. In 2023, he donated two works to the French government, now displayed at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, furthering cultural diplomacy through calligraphy and painting.

His best-known work, Song of the Airport – On the Road, is a monumental illuminated calligraphy installation created with lyricist Vincent Fang for Terminal 1 of Taoyuan International Airport. His works are also held and displayed by major museums, government institutions, universities, transportation hubs, and public spaces throughout Taiwan.
